VIDEO GAME OSTS

It's friday and I felt like scribbling out a blog post about my favorite video game OSTs. I'm not an audiophile and I don't have any enlightening critical thoughts about them, I'm just pointing out a few OSTs I think are excellent and worth listening to and a few honourable mentions.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines and More Songs From the Vault - Rik Schaffer
The VTMB OST and the companion album (More Music From the Vault) are probably my most listened to OSTs ever. They are just so fantastic. I feel like it's a very atypical soundtrack for a video game and it's huge contributor to the dirty, grungy, gothic aesthetic of the game. I've never been able to find something that feels quite like it. I highly reccomend checking both albums out even if you never intend to play VTMB. Fave Tracks: Come Around; Selfless Doubt; World Spirit Map; The Bite is Eternal

Silent Hill 2 - Akira Yamaoka - This really applies to every Silent Hill soundtrack that Akira Yamaoka composed for with my particular favorites being 2 & 3. This OST really captures the twisted fairy-tale vibe of Silent Hill, while the soundtrack for 3 captures a kind of teenage-like vibe that's fitting for Heather (End of Small Sanctuary GOAT). Also the album art of Maria on the floor of Heaven's Night is iconic. Fave Tracks: Heaven's Night; Alone in the Town; Promise (Reprise); Love Pslam; Overdose Delusion

Bully - Shawn Lee - Perfection. This is literally the most perfect OST someone could've made for this game. It's such a vibe. Many of the tracks throw of a 1970s vibe really captures the concept of being stuck at an out-of-date and dilapidated school. Great game, fantastic soundtrack. Fave Tracks: Comic Klepto; Vendetta Preps; Cheating Time; Defender of the Castle

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare - Various - I adore all the RDR soundtracks from Bill Elm and Woody Jackson but I rank Undead Nightmare at the top. It's already one of my favorite DLCs ever made and the soundtrack is a huge part of that. It evokes classic, and cheesy b-horror so effectively. It also introduced my teenage-self to the band Kreeps , whom I in turn lifted the name Geekula from (all three of their songs on this OST slap). I still listen to this one consistently. Fave Tracks Showdown at Escalera; Bad Voodoo; Dead Sled; Zombie Corpseplay

Ena: Dream BBQ (Chapter 1) - Various - Wow something released in the last decade! I really enjoyed Dream BBQ and I really vibed with the soundtrack. I've floated away from it recently as it led me to the other ENA OST and artists like Metaroom, Oliver Buckland, and Graham Kartna. Fave Tracks Main Menu Theme; Gift Shop - Cool Vibes; The Shaman
