Works in Progress

I've been working on some projects lately but have no finished products to share so I thought I'd throw them into a single blog post.

First off is something I don't have photos for but I've working on building my own Tom Servo with mostly 3D printed parts. Progress has stalled for a few reasons like I had to order more filler primer, and I'm dreading starting the process of printing the hover skirt piece by piece. I used the offical Tom color of Testors Red Metal Flake but it just seems... too dark? It's like the base color is a little too purple? Something I've made peace with this project is that the bots aren't standarized in the series at all. Parts and colors change over time or even episode to episode. Tom is little more fire truck red at the start then becomes more sparkly as time passes. Scene lighting also has an effect on his color as well. Another road block on this one is that I'm trying to be conscientious of my neighbors when using my spray paint so I frequently have to abort my plans or spray at odd times.

ANYWAY-

I've been trying to learn Blender for like a year now but I've been making a more consistent effort lately. Looking at this screenshot now I reallly hate the hair and will be doing it over again. I feel like I've gotten better but still hit walls where I make a mess of the UVs. Rigging is also driving me CRAZY. Weight painting is a waking nightmare.

Eyeball Wizard is part of this as well.

A lot of this is just practice in service of making that point n click adventure game I always wanted. My intended outcome with Eyebo here was to try and produce sprites in the style of (the orginal) Super Mario RPG by rendering frames and then compressing+dithering in photoshop.

Speaking of Super Mario RPG. I just want to say that Bundt is everything to me:
